Aids Sn ( ?; der isolierte Gebrauch des Wortes wird vermieden, so daß eine Genuszuweisung nicht erkennbar ist) erw. fach. (20. Jh.) Kunstbildung. Entlehnt aus dem am.-e. Akronym Aids (AIDS) für Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome "Erworbenes Immunschwäche-Syndrom" (auch als Immunschwäche übersetzt). Im Deutschen bezeugt seit 1983.
   Ebenso nndl. AIDS, ne. AIDS, nfrz. SIDA (Syndrome d'Immunodéficience Acquise), nschw. AIDS, nnorw. AIDS.
